Red Bull Essay Many people, especially young people, athletes and students, drink energy drinks like: Red Bull, Rock Star and Monster almost every day to survive in their busy life. However, these people do not know the dangerous side effects and the harm which these energy drinks can make in their body. A research was conducted by Mayo Clinic hospital says that Energy drinks related emergency visit double in the hospital in the last 4 years. The same study also says that drinking energy drinks might lead to a very dangerous diseases such as Rapid heartbeat and blood pressure. Energy drinks do not cause only dangerous diseases but also it can cause death, and there are too many death cases which are related to energy drinks. According to CBS news, a 19 years old teenager Alex Morris died in California from a heart attack last year after consuming two cans of the energy drink Monster. Another death case was reported by CBS news in Maryland for a 14-year-old Anais Fournier. Anais died after he consumed two cans of Monster. In 2011, Cory Terry 33 years old from Brooklyn new York died from heart attack during a basketball game after drinking the energy drink Red bull. In 2013, Michael Clarke a 35 years old truck driver from Australia died from caffeine toxicity after drinking four cans of Red Bull. According to Michaels mother, Michael has never smoked and he used to run daily, and he was in a good health. According to ABC news, the 5 Hour energy drink has led to the death of 13 people in the past 4 years. Lanna Hamann, 16 years old girl from Rocky Point, Mexico, died from a heart attack after consuming 3 cans of the energy drink Rock Star. These examples of the death cases which are related to the energy drinks are actually few from many reported and unreported cases. My friend, I understand the need of being awake is very important for all of us since our life is very busy, but there are other safe alternatives which can make us awake and also in the same time do not harm our lives. For example, instead of drinking energy drink we can eat Chocolate, which contains caffeine also 100 gram of chocolate contains around 43 grams of caffeine. Moreover, Chocolate has some important minerals to our body such as Iron and magnesium. Another alternative is drinking tea, a 100 gram of tea contains 11 milligram of caffeine. According to Today Health magazine, drinking Tea is very good for human health since it contain antioxidant which can protect human from cancer and also it increases human metabolism which can help in losing weight. Another alternative is drinking coffee, a 100 gram of coffee contains 40 milligram of caffeine. According to Harvard school of public health, coffee contains a substance called cafestol, which reduce the cholesterol level in the blood. Another study shows that people who drink coffee have a 23 to 50% lower risk of getting diabetes. In conclusion, my friend, in the media they says red Bull can give wings but actually it doesnt. These energy drinks can harm your health and might kill you. The Jilting of Granny Weatherall In Katherine Ann Porter’s "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall," there are two prevalant themes. The first is self-pity. The second theme is the acceptance of her immenent demise. Both deal with the way people perceive their deaths and mortality in general. Granny Weatherall’s behavior is Porter’s tool for making these themes visible to the reader. The theme of self-pity is obvious and throughly explored early on. As a young lady, Granny Weatherall left at the alter on her wedding day . As a result, the pathetic woman feels sorry for herself for the rest of her life. She becomes a bitter old woman who is suspicious of everyone around her. This point is shown early in the story when the doctor is speaking to Cornelia in the hallway outside of Granny’s room. Granny exclaims "First off, go away and don’t whisper!" (p.1487) Granny was apparently under the impression that the two of them were speaking ill of her behind her back. Thoughts like these resulted from the trauma she suffered when the man she loved failed to show up on their wedding day. Granny Weatherall’s self-pity gives the reader a negative initial impression of a woman the author eventually expects us to miss. I couldn't wait to get there, the Cayman Islands this was. On the tiring plane journey there, every soul was asleep apart from mine, dreaming of what the next two weeks was going to be like for me. The crystal-clear cobalt blue seas and the sandy sun-kissed shore. Pure paradise and a path to relaxation! Before I knew it we had touched down in Little Cayman the scenery truly exquisite. All I could see was the suns burning hot rays twinkling off the surface of the calm Caribbean Sea. Before my feet had time to touch the ground I was in the sea with my snorkel admiring the picturesque under water life. Completely unspoiled, blessed with natural treasures and with its fabulous underwater visibility it completely took my breath away. With the healthy reef and exciting marine life, nature lovers would find indigenous wildlife and so did I? I couldn't resist anymore, I took my last breath and prudently swam into a new world under the sea. I felt so powerful, harmlessly eradicating all the different species from my path as I further descended towards the brightly coloured coral. I felt an unusual sensations pass up my body as the plants and coral gently brushed against me. It was getting cold now so my heart sped up dramatically using up my little reserve oxygen I had in me, so I had to get up for some more soon. Just as I pulled away I felt my ankle get clutched together. I panicked, what was it I thought? Coral! As I spun my head round it was in fact a massive octopus. I yanked my foot but he relentlessly held on. I kicked once again, but still to no avail. I was quickly running out of air and the last reserves I had went straight out my mouth and bubbled to the surface. I was thinking unless he lets go I'm going to die. No one will know where I am or what happened to me. This amazing holiday coming to a tragic end. What will my family do? I slowly eased up and my eyes shut. I was slipping in and out of conciseness whilst my lungs filled up with seawater. I was almost dead! Then without no notice he let go my drenched body slowly floated to the surface and popped up like a Boyd. Choking and spluttering, the water soon evacuated my lungs, replaced with well-needed air. I still had no energy and no idea where I was; I certainly didn't have the energy to swim to the shore. I was fighting for my life. I fell unconscious again. Several hours later I was awoke on the shore, my mum trying to wake me up. How I got back to the shore, I will never know but thank God I'm still alive!
